ICGdR Awards

The ICGdR presents the following awards to recognize those who have made significant contributions to the geo-disaster reduction for the benefit of human society and the natural environment:

(1) ICGdR Technology Invention Award
(2) ICGdR Natural Science Award
(3) ICGdR Science and Technology Advancement Award
(4) ICGdR Outstanding Activity Award
(5) ICGdR Outstanding Young Scientist Award
(6) ICGdR Excellent Doctoral Dissertation Award

Regulations and Requirements

Regulations for the ICGdR award selection starting from 2025

(1) The ICGdR awards are selected by a review committee appointed by the ICGdR President;
(2) The number of members in the review committee should be no less than nine and it should be odd;
(3) The review committee should be formed by multinational members and the number of members from one country/region should be no more than two;
(4) Selected review committee members shall recuse themselves from awards in which they have an application to whom there is a conflict of interest. In such cases, the ICGdR President should appoint an alternate member to the committee.
(5) The members of the review committee should be publicized on the ICGdR website within one week after the announcement of the award selection results.

Requirements for applying for the ICGdR award starting from 2025

(1) The applicants should hold ICGdR membership for more than two years (Strictly starting from the effective date of the membership certificate to the deadline of the award application) except for applying the ICGdR Excellent Doctoral Dissertation Award;
(2) All of the ICGdR members under the age of 45 are eligible for nomination for the ICGdR Outstanding Young Scientist Award;
(3)Individuals or institutes affiliated with ICGdR are eligible for nomination of the ICGdR Outstanding Activity Award;
(4) PhD graduates in the institutes affiliated with ICGdR and those directly supervised by ICGdR members who hold ICGdR membership for more than two years are eligible for nomination of the ICGdR Excellent Doctoral Dissertation Award. The doctoral degree should be awarded between January 1 of the year before the award application and the deadline of the award application in that year.
(5) For ICGdR Science Achievement Award, ICGdR Technology Invention Award, ICGdR Outstanding Young Scientist Award, and ICGdR Excellent Doctoral Dissertation Award, the number of award winners in each year should be no more than two for each award, and when there are only two applicants, the number of award winner should be no more than one. For ICGdR Science Achievement Award and ICGdR Technology Invention Award, if there is only one application, the corresponding award will be canceled for the year concerned.
